1. Identify 2 state issues impacting CRNA practice.
2. Discuss strategies that can be incorporated into daily clinical practice to address state issues impacting CRNAs.

Lori Ann Winner is the current president of NJANA.  She is a faculty member at the University of Pennsylvania in the Nurse Anesthesia program and works at numerous other facilities as an independent contractor in the NJ & PA area.  She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania and her research focus was on practice initiatives and outcomes with the opt-out policy enactment.  She also serves on the NBCRNA CPC oversight committee.

Epidural Anesthesia: When Bad things Happen
Presenter: Charles Reese, Ph.D, CRNA
1. The learner will appreciate the magnitude of possible unintended outcomes associated with epidural anesthesia for labor and delivery.
2. The learner will understand the importance of sterile technique and timely recognition of systemic infection associated with epidural anesthesia.

Dr. Charles Reese has had a career-long interest in teaching regional anesthesia. He has edited/authored texts,  published numerous papers and presented at Continuing Education seminars, conventions, and workshops nationally and internationally.  As a member of the AANA’s original Ad Hoc Committee on Regional Anesthesia, he helped develop and currently serves as the senior core faculty of a series of post-graduate clinical workshops which offer a didactic review and “hands on” practical application of Spinal, Epidural, and Ultrasound-Guided Upper and Lower Extremity techniques.  Click here to read more about his amazing career.
